Michelin Star Restaurants in Miami
Every starred room, every Bib Gourmand, and what the badge on the door is actually worth.
Miami collects awards the way it collects condo towers. Some tell you something real about dinner; some tell you a hotel spent money on the dining room. This is every Michelin star and Bib Gourmand in the city, plus the James Beard, 50 Best and Wine Spectator names worth knowing. 165 places, 21 neighborhoods, 15 Michelin stars between them.
What counts as an award here
Three tiers, and they are not interchangeable. A Michelin star and a readers' choice poll both say something, but not the same thing. Numbers are venues, not awards — a room holding three Michelin honours counts once.

Judged by inspectors or an international industry panel. The hardest to get and the slowest to lose.

What the badge on the door is worth. A Bib Gourmand is not a runner-up star. A James Beard semifinalist has not won anything yet. And a wine award says nothing about the food. Worth knowing before you book.
Miami's Michelin star restaurants
Michelin only started covering Florida in 2022, so these are young stars by European standards, and the list still fits on one hand and a half. A star means the kitchen is the reason you came. Expect to book weeks out, expect the bill, and expect the meal to run long. Stars belong to a room, not a brand, so the second location of a starred restaurant is just a restaurant.

Michelin Bib Gourmand in Miami
The list we send people to most. Same inspectors, same standards, but the Bib goes to kitchens doing serious cooking without the ceremony or the price. A Cuban sandwich counter and a dim sum room sit on it next to each other. These are Tuesday places. No planning required.

Michelin Guide Miami, no star
The widest tier and the one people skip past. It means an inspector sat down, ate, and thought the place belonged in the book. For a neighborhood spot, that is a real thing.

James Beard in Miami
America's own culinary award, and the one most often oversold. Semifinalist is a long list published every winter. Finalist is the short cut from it. Winner is one name per category for the entire country. Most Miami names here are semifinalists, which is still a chef being noticed nationally.

Wine Spectator
This is a cellar award, not a kitchen one. Award of Excellence means someone built a real list. Best of Award of Excellence means they went deep. Read it as a promise about the bottle, not the plate.

Questions people actually ask
- How many Michelin star restaurants are in Miami?
- 15 stars across 14 rooms in the current guide, counting L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon's two. No Miami restaurant holds three, and neither does anywhere else in Florida.
- When did the Michelin Guide come to Miami?
- 2022. Florida was the guide's first new U.S. state after New York, Chicago, California and Washington DC, and Miami took the bulk of the stars. That makes these young stars by European standards, where a room might hold one for forty years.
- Is a Bib Gourmand worse than a star?
- No, it is a different question. The Bib is Michelin's answer to where you eat well without the ceremony or the bill, judged by the same inspectors against the same standards. For most nights out it is the more useful list.
- Does a second location get the same star?
- No. Michelin rates a specific room and a specific kitchen, so the second outpost of a starred restaurant is just a restaurant until it earns its own. We list a venue only for what that venue earned.
- Which Miami neighborhood has the most starred restaurants?
- The Design District, which holds Miami's only two-star room along with two more one-star kitchens in a few walkable blocks. Coconut Grove and Coral Gables are the next densest.
How we keep this honest
Every award here comes off the awarding body's own published list and gets checked against the venue. We leave out review scores, popularity counts, and any award that belongs to a restaurant's flagship in another city. A Miami room is listed for what the Miami room earned, nothing inherited. Closed places come off. If something here has gone stale, tell us and we will check it.
