Colombian chef Juan Manuel Barrientos brought his elcielo concept to Brickell, opening the Miami location in 2015 after roughly two years of anticipation. It's the U.S. expansion of his Medellin-born fine dining brand, built around Colombian ingredients presented through avant-garde, sense-driven tasting menus.
The signature format is a multi-course tasting menu (called "The Experience," priced $289-$298) that walks guests through Colombian flavors via theatrical, sensory-focused courses, including a hands-on "Chocotherapy" moment built around cacao. A shorter Bar Experience is also offered.
Elcielo Miami holds a Michelin star, awarded starting in 2022, making Barrientos the first Colombian chef with two Michelin-starred restaurants (Miami and Washington D.C.). It is the only Colombian restaurant in Florida with a Michelin star.
This is a special-occasion, reservation-only fine-dining room; book ahead via OpenTable or by phone. The restaurant is closed to walk-in dining on Tuesdays (private events only), and courses run long, so plan for a multi-hour evening.
