Bakan opened in Wynwood in December 2018 under chef Oscar del Rivero, built as a tribute to regional Mexican cooking beyond the taco-shop format that had dominated Miami's Mexican scene.
Chef Oscar del Rivero, previously of El Santo Taqueria, built the menu around scratch tortillas made from Mexican corn, plus dishes like short rib tacos, crab tacos and a Chilean seabass mole verde. The name means tortilla in the Huasteca region.
