Gramps Getaway
Gramps Getaway is the waterfront sister bar to Wynwood's Gramps, docked at the old Whiskey Joe's spot on Virginia Key at the Rickenbacker Marina. Executive chef James McNeal runs a Caribbean and Florida Keys-leaning kitchen he describes as "really fresh ingredients, unique and proper technique, but overall just really simple food done well," and the place is reachable by boat as easily as by car. Live music and DJ sets run through the week on top of the food and full bar.

The Story
Gramps Getaway is a sister location to Adam Gersten's Wynwood dive bar Gramps, open since 2012. It opened at Rickenbacker Marina on Virginia Key in the former Whiskey Joe's space.

The kitchen sticks to classic bar food done right: buffalo wings, a fried chicken sandwich, conch fritters, cheeseburgers, and a charred broccoli salad, all meant to be eaten dockside with a cold drink.
