Café Demetrio calls itself Coral Gables' first coffeehouse, opened by Demetrio and Vilma Pina inside the 1920s building that once housed the city's first newspaper. It leans into an old-world European coffeehouse model built for lingering: a patio, a chess set, quiet conversation over cappuccino rather than a fast counter order. It's a morning-only room, open 9am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday.
