Bad Bunny and David Grutman's Japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge — premium steaks, innovative sushi, and a jewel-toned nightlife scene.
Gekko is a Japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge born from the partnership between nightlife mogul David Grutman (Groot Hospitality: Komodo, Papi Steak, LIV) and global music superstar Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio). The restaurant opened on August 12, 2022, at the former Katsuya space in the SLS Lux Brickell Tower (805 S Miami Ave). The grand opening drew a celebrity lineup including David Beckham, Victoria Beckham, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne, Future, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, and Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava. The interior was designed by Rockwell Group, mixing jewel tones and natural wood accents throughout the 185-seat dining room.
A fusion of elevated steakhouse dining with the precision of Japanese cuisine. The menu features premium steak cuts, sushi and sashimi, lobster dumplings, exotic oysters, crispy rice, gyoza, and an extensive cocktail list with bottle service. Gekko also operates an attached lounge space with DJs, blurring the line between fine dining and nightlife in quintessential Grutman fashion.
No Michelin star or James Beard recognition has been found for Gekko. Its significance is primarily cultural and commercial, a celebrity-backed, high-revenue venue in one of Miami's most competitive dining corridors. The venue secured a $23.5 million refinancing deal reported by Miami New Times, reflecting its financial performance.
Dress code is strict: dress shirts, blazers, cocktail dresses, or upscale fashion required: no athletic wear, flip-flops, tank tops, or beachwear. The code is enforced more strictly at night and on weekends. Valet parking is available at the SLS Lux Brickell entrance. For weekends, book 1–2 weeks in advance; prime slots (7–9 PM Fri/Sat) fill fast. Reservations are through Resy (not OpenTable). Expect a lively, nightlife-forward atmosphere; for a quieter experience, aim for early weeknight seatings. Miami Spice 2026: dinner only, $65, Monday–Thursday and Sunday.
