The Story
Opened in 1987 by Hiromi "Toni" Takarada as the first Japanese restaurant in Miami Beach, back when the neighborhood was mostly faded houses and hotels. The Takarada family still runs it. In the '90s it fed the Miami Vice cast and off-duty models; a renovation ahead of its 40th year rebuilt the space with bamboo shipped from Kyoto.
