¡Salud! Miami, decoded
The honest read on ¡Salud! Miami: what each bar is actually pouring in October, what it costs, and the 10pm rule that governs all of it.
What ¡Salud! Miami actually is
¡Salud! Miami is the city's cocktail month. Through October more than seventy bars, restaurants and hotels each put a short ¡Salud! list on the back bar at a cut price. It is in its second year, run by a group of Miami hospitality operators rather than a tourism board, and the pitch is as much about the bartenders as the drinks. Taking part is free for the drinker: there is no pass and no ticket, you order off the ¡Salud! menu.
There is no single programme price. Each bar sets its own list and its own number, so the range runs from about $6 to $17, and plenty of rooms simply make every ¡Salud! cocktail $10 or $12. Most lists are three or four drinks, usually including a zero-proof one.
Two things the price will not tell you. The discount applies before 10pm, so this is an early-evening programme rather than a late-night one. And participating days are set by each venue, not by the programme, which is why every card here links the bar rather than claiming a schedule we cannot source.
Is it actually a deal?
Usually, and the maths is simpler than a prix-fixe programme: a cocktail that normally runs $18 to $22 in these rooms is $10 to $15 for the month. The catch is the clock rather than the price. The discount applies before 10pm, so it rewards an early drink, not a night out. And each bar picks its own days, so the list below links the bar instead of asserting a schedule.
